Public hospitals and chemists are open to tourists. Health insurance is strongly advised. In Egypt, everything is quite safe except, sometimes, the tap water, which you can drink as the water in Egypt is highly chlorinated. But, this water is only safe to drink if you are used to it, and if you are willing to live in Egypt for a long time, this doesn't mean that the tap water is polluted, it simply means that you are not used to it. • Yellow Fever: Usually the passengers from yellow fever infected countries may be detained in the airport if they do not have a vaccination certificate. Special Precaution: No Certificate: 1 • Malaria: Malaria is a serious and sometimes fatal disease transmitted by mosquitoes. You cannot be vaccinated against malaria. Special Precaution: 4 Certificate: N/A • Typhoid and Hepatitis A are spread through contaminated food and water. Typhoid causes septicaemia and hepatitis A causes liver inflammation and jaundice. The best prevention is one good hygiene. • Hepatitis B is spread through infected blood, contaminated needles and sexual intercourse, It affects the liver, causes jaundice and occasionally liver failure.
